It's the Jewish New Year.  And, well, this is from my aunt Belle.  May it be sweet for all.

I'm not too cool to admit I listened to Raffi as a kid.  Now he's on board with fighting climate change. 

So, it seems that people are finally getting serious about impeaching our president, with the offense being his calls to Ukraine in an effort to persuade their leaders to investigate possible 2020 election opponent Joe Biden and his son (and hinting at dangling military aid, etc, from them in exchange for information).  So he is basically tampering with the election.  

My only question is, why does it suddenly seem so easy, after all the b.s. we put up with from him?



In the meantime, some new music.

Despite the band name that cost them tour dates at some Christian-affiliated colleges, the New Pornographers have consistently been bread and butter indie rock for me.  

Whether you like her or not, we can't seem to ignore sixteen year old climate activist Greta Thunberg.  I know some people are listening, and others will just call her "mentally ill." Personally, I'm on the side that is listening.  

Back in the day, the girls wore Bebe, and everyone would just call people gay, which was not okay.  That's my rhyme of the day, and not what Captain Planet had to say.

Fantastic new video for an old song.

My blog today would just not feel right without a post for Ric Ocasek.  I still remember the first time I heard "Hello Again," probably the first song I heard by the Cars.  I didn't even know it was by them until I finally found that song years later.  

Okay, so I love my Macbook, but I keep getting all these CNN banners that I can't make go away.  I just got one that says "body found, thanks to Google."  Thanks for letting me know...

So many thoughts on last night's debate.

  I finally figured out after all this time how I see Cory Booker.  I see him as kind of a smart aleck cousin type, which is probably why my mom doesn't like him. But I do think he is good.  

Rest in peace Eddie Money.

I felt that some tribute post is necessary for Daniel Johnston, who we lost yesterday.  I knew him more because Beach House covered one of his songs.  He was a beloved singer, who definitely was an outsider, but made some unique music that a lot of people connected with.

Lot's of ruminating today, but still something fun to watch.  

In other exciting world news, erectile dysfunction may predict strokes.  Jinkies!

9/11 Reflections 2019

It happens that my work day does not fall on 9/11 this year, but in place of the moment of silence that we usually have at my workplace, I've taken some time to myself to meditate and reflect on the terror and pain that I remember feeling that day, while remembering the lives lost and the bravery of those who responded on that day.  I know it is something that even with every passing year, I will never forget.  

Not sure how I feel yet about the direction she's going, but new music from FKA Twigs.

New stuff from Grimes, and of course it is unusual as you'd expect.

Two things that really make me mad: "Straight Pride" parades, and "White Lives Matter."
