Halloween is not at all my favorite holiday, but I think it is cute when the kids come around and you get to make their day by letting them choose their goodies, and then making the parents' day by telling them that their kids are good because they say "thank you."  

"Eyes Without a Face" is such a great song, and kind of works for Halloween, because eyes without a face are a pretty scary thing to think about.  
My uncle will leave the table and not come back if anyone mentions "crushed eyeballs."  It is some joke that goes back to his childhood.  
Anyway, Happy Halloween.

True story in the news.  Some man got a DUI because his body somehow produces alcohol within him.  He had some kind of yeast in his system, which fermented and caused him to experience what drinkers experience, without ingesting any alcohol, and he wasn't lying when he told the officers that he hadn't been drinking.

Besides that, no one should be driving drunk or even buzzed.  And the guy in the news story shouldn't drive if his body has that condition! Just don't do it.  Please!

So much exciting new music this year, you'd almost forget that Thom Yorke had an excellent solo release. 

I had an interesting experience yesterday.  First time ever in a worker's comp court.  It was a bit intimidating at first, but I think the judge liked me because I am respectful.  And now for some fun new music from the Black Lips.

Last night's LGBTQ town hall event really showed us that progress is being made, and hopefully ideas are changing.  All the democratic candidates think similarly regarding LBGTQ rights.  

I have same sex couples at my place of worship.  I have LGBTQ managers at my job.  It's a different time than when my parents were growing up.  I think it was Biden who commented that maybe 7-10 years ago, it would sort of be the norm for a group of friends to go out, and start teasing and making fun of a waiter or waitress who you can tell is gay.  But now, a lot of people wouldn't want to have someone who is like that in their group of friends.    Still, I've seen plenty of the opposite side of what these candidates stand for.  

It has been a big year for the band Big Thief, with two highly acclaimed releases.  
I think I am just about recovered from my Yom Kippur fast, but it was a fairly tough one this year.

New album from Angel Olsen is highly anticipated for me, and sure to be a grower, as many of my favorite albums are!

Speedy recovery to Bernie Sanders, who seems to be having some health problems.  I support him sticking in the presidential race, even if there are questions about his age and health.  He still deserves to be there.  

I'm actually liking this new Jimmy Eat World track, even though I thought I left them behind.  They kept their emo style while sort of updating their sound for 2019 to become kind of Springsteen-esque, open highway driving music.

Fast fact: In certain parts of the world, "emo" is not just a music style, but also it is something somehow conflated with homosexuality, and people who are known as "emo" are sought and murdered for that reason.  It is these kind of things that are heartbreaking to me, as I believe that no one should be targeted based on who they love.

I like chicken noodle soup, but I think I'd rather have something other than soda on the side.
